The account
The Solankis (Chaulukyas) presided over the golden age of medieval Gujarat from their imperial capital of Anhilwad Patan, under celebrated monarchs like Sidhraj Jaisinh and Kumarapala.
Following the fragmentation of the imperial realm, royal branches established sovereign principalities including Lunavada along the Mahi river and Vansda in South Gujarat.
The Solanki heritage is immortalised in the breathtaking architecture of the Sun Temple at Modhera, the Rani ki Vav at Patan, and the stepwells across the state.
