The account
The Chauhans of Gujarat trace their lineage to the great imperial line of Ajmer and Delhi, migrating into Gujarat where they established their legendary capital atop the sacred plateau of Pavagadh.
Following the fall of Champaner-Pavagadh in 1484, the sons of Rawal Patai withdrew eastward into the forested valleys of the Rewa Kantha, establishing the martial principalities of Chhota Udepur and Devgadh Baria.
Both states preserved Rajput sovereignty through centuries of Maratha expansion and became vital guardians of the eastern frontiers of Gujarat.
