The account
The Vaghela, a sub-branch of the Solankis of Anhilpur Patan, settled at Dholka in north-east Saurashtra at the end of the thirteenth century.
The Vaghela Rajputs held sway over the north-eastern region of Saurashtra; it was the Vaghela king Vishaldev of Wadhwan who, seeing the prowess of the newly arrived Parmars, granted them Muli, Chotila and Chobari in 1476–77.
The Mers of Porbandar and the Vaghels and Vadhers of Okhamandal are among the communities the Gazetteer records as chiefly concentrated in the areas of their early settlement.
